The York County Community College Men’s Soccer team wrapped up their inaugural season with a 3-6 record, and a lot of promise for what’s to come. The Hawks secured clean sheet victories in all three of their wins, defeating University of Maine Augusta, Hampshire College, and Vermont State Randolph without allowing a goal.
A big part of the team’s success was their attack. Striker Kevin Paulinho led the charge with five goals and two assists for a total of seven goal contributions, which led the team. His ability to create chances and find the back of the net was a key factor in their victories. Midfielder James Melino also had an impressive season, scoring the first goal in program history and dishing out five assists. James was recognized with a USCAA All-American Honorable Mention for his efforts.
In goal, Ryen Royce had a standout season, earning an honorable mention from the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC). His performances between the posts were crucial, especially in those shutout wins that helped keep the team in games.
Head Coach Chris Melino had this to say about the team’s season: “I’m thrilled with the way the team competed this season. It felt like every single game there were moments of growth and development, and that’s exactly what we were looking to see. We have a great group of guys who laid a solid foundation for this program’s future, and I couldn’t be more excited for next season.”
